What is Veritas?
The phrase “Veritas” originally stems from Roman mythology, meaning “truthfulness” in Latin. Truthfulness was one of the most important virtues that every ancient Roman valued. The Romans are considered one of the most influential societies in the history of the world. For instance, Roman culture has played a role in how laws are made today, the development of democratic government practices, and influences in languages. Latin mottos have grown to be a staple of mottos that everyone strives to live by. Veritas now appear as mottos of universities like Harvard, and shows only a fragment of the impact that Latin mottos have had on our modern societies today. Location UC Riverside University Theatre |
